Lake Boon

Today after dropping Kendall off at preschool where she had to transition to a different classroom for the summer and then will transition again in the fall, Tyler and I went to the beach. Well not the ocean beach but a lake beach. It was actually a great first trip to the beach. The lake wasn't nearly as clean as Tahoe but it was slightly warmer and Tyler did eventually go into the water. Anyway we started out on the sand then went in the water for a bit then headed to the playground that was there had lunch then headed out to pick Kendall up from school. I think the only thing that would have made the trip nicer is if it was warmer and I could have gotten some color on this sad New England clam chowder of a color skin I have.

I also need to say how proud we were of Kendall today. I picked her up in her new classroom and the teacher said she did great. I sort of new she would but the great thing was . . . she peed and pooped on the toilet all day there (well all morning cause she's only there from 8:30 to 1pm) but I couldn't believe it. Not because she's not capable because she is. Every so often she'll go at home but it's never really consistent and I've told them at school before that she shows interest so by all means help her out. Every time in her old classroom they would ask and try to get her to go and she wouldn't so I was just floored that in her new classroom with new teachers she had no problems going all day. I guess the transition was good for her and she must like her new teacher. yeah Kendall!

Freedom Trail

With "Auntie" Boswell visiting from San Francisco, we've been trying to get her all around the MA area. Yesterday we went to Harvard and today we did the Freedom Trail. Tyler was quite the trooper. We didn't finish it but we managed to see a few sites and experience a bit of Boston before we had to head back home to pick up Kendall from school. The trail starts off in Boston Commons. The commons is basically Boston's version of Central Park or Golden Gate park in SF. Here we saw this old Italian man feeding the squirrels chex mix. Now I wasn't going to let Tyler feed the little guy but the squirrel actually gently took the snack out of the old mans hand so I let Tyler try and the another one took it gently out of Tyler's hand. I couldn't believe it. Of course I had to tell Tyler that not all squirrels are nice so stay away from them at any other time. Next stop is the State House, here Tyler is walking up the stairs.

Then we went into a few churches. Finally Tyler decided to stand in opposition.

We had a good time but I'm not sure I'd want to do it again with the kids. I guess in small doses it will be ok. Tomorrow Boswell and I will be heading to Newburyport for some yummy MA seafood. I'm thinking lobsta!

Happy Father's Day

So this weekend was really all about Kevin. Yesterday was his birthday and today Father's Day. I can tell you this if I were in his shoes I would have been MILKING it. I do anyway but with two "holidays" in a row you've got to take advantage. So what does Kevin do today (when I would have requested to stay in bed and sleep)? He decides he wants to go to the gym and takes the kids with (they go in Child watch) but then he takes them to the Naz for a little bit as well. (an indoor climbing tree at the Y). So that gives me a few hours at home alone, Happy Father's Day to ME! Kevin really is a great dad to both Tyler and Kendall. They love him so much, as do I. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today was Kevin's birthday and we celebrated with his favorite cake, yellow with chocolate frosting. Good thing that can be made out of a box. Tyler wanted him to have a blue cake but . . . that just wasn't going to work so we compromised on blue candles. I wanted to get the big number candles but they were out of the 4's. So I think I should have made a bigger cake to hold all 43 of those blue candles. Tyler had to help him blow them all out but Kendall just helped eating the cake.

Happy Birthday to the best Daddy! Oh and in case you were wondering what he got for his birthday, he'll be getting my old GPS. Hey that's what happens when I'm not making any money yet, he'll just have to wait until my little business picks up, of course I already have a list of new lenses I want but I digress.

New Venture

Well I think I'm going to do it! I'm going to stop dreaming about it and just try and see if I can make it work. That is if I can figure it all out. I'm adding yet one more thing to my already full plate, let's call it dessert or more formally MQN Photography. That's right I'm going to try and launch into my own little business in the fiercely competitive field of photography. I know I'm not the best, but I do think I'm better than some and I really enjoy doing it so if I can make a little money on the side, then it can't be all that bad can it? Check out my new photography blog and see what I've been up to. http://mqnphotography.blogspot.com/
