Happy Turkey Day To All

We want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I made our feast here, which consisted of a Buttermilk-Brined Turkey, Smokey Bacon Biscuit Dressing, Mashed Potatoes (of course), Snap Beans with Caramelized Shallots and Roasted Mushrooms, Cranberry Sauce and last but certainly not least Pecan Pumpkin Butter Pie. I do have to say I make one mean turkey, yummy yummy! And I have to be honest I thought all my sides were pretty delicious too. Tyler was so excited all day to eat turkey dinner. It might have been because we saw some wild turkeys actually walking across the street from our house this morning. The big hit though this morning was the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. I think the kids sat there the whole morning and watched it. I couldn't believe how much they enjoyed it. I don't remember enjoying it that much. Of course I can't remember back when I was 2 so who knows. We started new traditions this year, Tyler and Kendall enjoyed a little wrestling.

I think she gave him a run for his money. Anyway it was a good day and mommy is oh so tired from all her hard work in the kitchen. I do want to add what I'm thankful for and that is a healthy and happy family (colds and tantrums aside). I feel so privileged to have what we have, and I'm just so thankful that we are all healthy to enjoy life as it is.

Preschool Wednesday at the Ecotarium

Today we visited the Ecotarium. Who knew it was so cool? The Ecotarium is a unique indoor-outdoor museum and is located almost right around the corner from where we live. We didn't even see all it had to offer. I guess it has really nice nature trails (too cold to be outside for too long today) and has a planetarium.
We did see some of the wildlife (they had two beautiful bald eagles right at the entrance) but not all, I guess they have a polar bear somewhere. We did manage to go on the little railroad, and they had lots of fun hands-on exhibits. Tyler told me he wanted to go again but he didn't want to go to story time, or do a craft or even go on the train again. (all of which is what we did today) All he wanted to do next time he said was look at the animals. (they have lots of stuffed animals as well as live ones) hmmm, I guess I need to take him to a zoo. Anyway my favorite part of the day was actually when we were inside and they had these little benches and drawers where you open them and they had bugs, and mice and what not (all dead and stuffed) which totally gives me the willy's so I was opening them up so they could see what was inside and I was saying "ewe!" and Kendall was just right there ready to touch everything, she didn't care and Tyler says "We need to close these, I don't want baby to touch it, it's scary" and when she'd go to touch the window class he'd get all worried, "No no Kendall don't touch" and looking at me to do something. Such a cute big brother.

Another Hooded Towel

So the other night I made my second hooded towel. I don't know if many of you remember my first blog about the hooded towel I made Kendall but this time I made one for Tyler. Yes I'm truly talented. Ha Ha! And FYI, Kendall's is still in one piece after all these months in case anyone was wondering.

Ahoy There Ye Frozen Matey's!

We hosted what was supposed to be a Pirate & Princess Tea Party, we made it just a Pirate and Princess Party and really it just turned into "controlled" chaos. We dug for buried pirate treasure in moon sand, and made princess crowns and wands.
I think the kids had a good time anyway just playing with all the toys, the good thing with this age is you don't have to be too clever to keep them occupied. At least I got one last picture of the kids in their costumes.

On another note can you tell this picture is of Jack's water. It's frozen solid. I had to change his water 3 times today because it kept freezing. I think it was in the teens today. I looked at the weather and it says it's 23 outside but feels like 11, can you guys out in Cali even comprehend what that is!!!!! That's colder than a damn freezer!

The "Bob"

Today we took Kendall to get her second haircut. I know not very exciting but can you believe it's been a week since my last post? Anyway we cut a few inches off.
She did so well.
She just sits there very still and doesn't move her head at all, just her eyes.
I keep thinking if I cut her hair then it will appear thicker and grow in. We're still waiting. Anyway I think her new little "bob" is super cute and stylish. What do you think?

Growing Strong . . .

. . . and maybe slowing down, Kendall had her 18 month well check. She's still in the 90-95% for height but at least she's now on the charts. In fact she's the exact same length that Tyler was at 18 months, 33 1/2 inches. She weighs 24.8 lbs (about the same as Tyler did too). Their big difference is Tyler had (still has) a little 10 percentile head circumference and Kendall is at 50%! She talks a lot more than Tyler did at this age and she'll say anything you say. (I need to be careful what I say with winter driving ahead of us) She just seems to understand everything. My new favorite thing she says is "I did it". The only concern I had for the doctor was that Kendall seems to walk/run crooked. She sort of leans in one direction and then leans into the other direction. Almost like she's walking on a rocking ship. He watched her walk/run to me in the hallway and said it was normal and that in fact since she really just recently started walking she's doing great. I might have exaggerated how crazy she walks but she's still so wobbly to me. From what I remember Tyler seemed very sturdy to me at this age, and so much "bigger", not at all "babylike" as I feel Kendall still is. Maybe that was because when Tyler was 18 months Kendall arrived into our world.
