Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween everyone! We went trick or treating tonight and had a lot of fun. We went early (5pm) but we some how must have missed most of the kids because we didn't get many after we came home AND we didn't see anyone on the street. Very spooky. Every year there seems to be less and less trick or treaters. Makes me sad because it's a past time I really enjoyed as a child and wished others would take part as well.

Anyway here we are out on the street, Little Red Riding Hood, The Big Bad Wolf and Devil Dog. We should have brought the wagon again this year because Kendall was getting tired of walking, good thing Daddy was willing to carry her.

Downtown Trick or Treat

The town of Hudson, does an annual downtown trick or treat, that we've gone to the past few years. We go as soon as it starts to beat any crowds. It gets sort of crazy and this year was no exception but at least it was warmer this year so I thought it was tolerable and the kids had fun. Last year it must have been in the 30's but today it was probably 54 so it was perfect. Here are a couple of pics of the kids having fun trick or treating with the store owners and or waiting in line for the goods.

The Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood

This afternoon we went the the Halloween Party that our YMCA was throwing. I'm all up for getting the most out of our costumes. I want them to wear them as much as possible before the big day. Anyway at the party they had a little parade where the kids are in groups and walk around depending on their age.

So Kendall went out as Little Red Riding Hood.

Then Tyler went out as the Big Bad Wolf. Then they asked for families so they both went out together. Then they awarded prizes and the kids won for best in the family category. Tyler and Kendall seemed so confused but so excited to get the Halloween bag filled with goodies. I actually liked when Tyler won two years ago and we got a certificate for a free class. But nevertheless now we have some neat carving tools that daddy will have to tackle because I'm all about the mess free crafts. So after wining and wanting to post about our little victory I realized I never posted our Halloween photo shoot I did. I posted on face book so some readers may have seen the pictures there but others may not have so I'll post a few here. Happy Halloween!

Fall Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday our friends hosted a fall Scavenger hunt for the kids, complete with decorating your own found pumpkin. It was such a great idea and the kids had so much fun. Kendall was in school but Tyler had fun. When we got home he wanted to have one too so maybe next year we will get to host one.

Apple Picking Field Trip

Not sure anyone noticed or not but I've been a little out of commission lately. That's because my computer crashed and I thought I lost everything. Thankfully I didn't just some e-mails. Then my Blackberry crashed so it's been one thing after another. But hopefully I'm up and running again. So with no further ado . . . Tyler had a field trip to Tougas Farm for a little Apple Picking today. Kendall had to join in on the fun too because she didn't have anywhere else to go. So we read the rules, took a little tractor ride to the orchards and started picking. It was pretty cold out (like in the 40's) so it wasn't all that pleasant. We rushed through it then had some freshly made apple cider donuts for snack. (after our apples of course).

I thought we were going to do some pumpkin picking but they hardly had any and the ones they had looked horrible. Hopefully I can get us in gear to get someplace to pick pumpkins before they are all gone everywhere.

Hau'oli lā hānau, Tyler!

That's Happy Birthday Tyler!

We had a little Luau themed party for Tyler today. I just love that kids are so easily impressed. I did very little decorations but Tyler came downstairs and said "It looks beautiful!" Basically the kids played. They were able to dig in the sand for starfish, we had hot dogs, snow cones and cake.

Then we opened the gifts and boom party over. I have to say I was so proud of Tyler for saying "Thank You" to every friend as he opened the gift they gave him. I didn't even prompt him to say it, he did it all on his own. He was so gracious and the best was he got gift from a friend of a game he already had and he yelled with enthusiasm "Hullabulloo! I always wanted TWO!" He's really growing into quite the little boy, I love him so much. Happy 4th Birthday Tyler!
