Just a Trim, Please.

Well I think you all saw the "before" pictures of Kendall's hair from the post a couple of weeks ago. We finally took her to get her haircut yesterday. I say cut but really it was a little less than a trim. I think the woman must have had some irate mother before me because she was a little to cautious with Kendall's hair. I told her I only wanted it trimmed because I really do want it to grow out but I still thought she'd cut more off or give it more of a "style" (maybe that was just wishful thinking on my behalf, and poof Kendall would have all this hair). She kept asking me "how's that" and I was like "ya OK" but really what do I know. If it wasn't for the little baggy of hair she kept for me I wouldn't have thought she cut any. I guess it's better than the alternative and Kendall's hair could have ended up worse than Frankenstein's.

Anyway Kendall did really well until the blow dryer came out and then it wasn't pretty but since she hardly has any hair it didn't take long to dry it. Hopefully more will grow soon.

All Done!

Finally after many weeks of construction and many many words saying "I don't see why we wouldn't be done by the end of the week". The end of the week finally arrived, our basement is completed. (well we still have some minor things like adding some more ceiling tiles and replacing the slider because daddy accidentally broke the glass on one side, luckily it's double paned so it's not like critters can come in). But it's done and we can start decorating. Of course now we have a whole other floor to furnish. Wait what am I talking about all the kids toys are going down there so there probably won't be room for much else. Anyway here are some pictures before it gets cluttered with crap.

Diagnosis: Spoiledrottenitis

Kendall had her 15 month well visit at the doctors today. It went great even though the doctor did say she was a little on the late side of normal in the walking department. Doctor: "Is she walking?" Mommy: "I wouldn't say 'walking' but she can take steps. I think she's choosing not to walk." Doctor: "How does she get around?" Mommy: "crawls, cruises, walks on knees or just sits there and cries until someone either a) brings her what she wants or b) carries her to where she wants to be." Doctor: "hmmmmm".

Anyway onto the good stuff. She grew two inches in three months so that means she's still in the 95% for length (she's 32 1/2 inches long) and gained only 1 lb so she weighs 23.6 lbs. This puts her weight in the 50%. The doctor did say that if in three months her weight got below the 50% mark then we would have to discuss some options. If they think Kendall is skinny, then I can't wait to hear what they have to say about Tyler at his 3 year appointment in October. Speaking of Tyler and because I love to compare the two:

Tyler@ 15 Months

  • Length--31 1/2 inches (Kendall 32 1/2 inches)

  • Weight--23.11 lbs (Kendall 23.6 lbs)

  • Head--10% (Kendall 45%)

Our next scheduled doctor's appointment will be Kendall's 18 month and Tyler's 3 year check-up in October. Here's to good health!

Helmet Head

So I realized it was time to buy Tyler a helmet when I saw our new next door neighbor's kids (3 & 4 years old) were wearing one and they were just on kids push scooters. OK I guess I didn't think about him falling off his trike and splitting his head open quite yet. Then I see Tyler riding down the slope on the driveway feet up singing WEEEEEEE! Ya OK I made a beeline to Toys R Us. And a good thing too since he fell on his head running from me while I tried to take pictures of him with his new Thomas the Train helmet on.

I hope it's not going to matter that he's a little top heavy now.

Splash Pad Fun

Davis Farmland is more than just a farm. It has this giant oasis of a splash pad. It was great when we got there as it opened because there weren't many kids but by noon there were just too many. We met up with some friends of ours and so it was pretty easy to spot out which one was mine. But I knew it was time to go when I looked down at Kendall and looked back up at Tyler 2 seconds later and he was gone. My heart raced, I just couldn't see him in the mass of kids and it was a little more than I could handle by myself. (Our friends had just left with their little ones). Of course he was fine just running around but as soon as I saw him I said 5 minutes and we left. What will I do next year when they are both running in two different directions? Anyway while we were there we did have a blast. Kendall played at this giant water table almost the whole time.
Tyler ran around like a mad man through all the sprinklers.

As you can see the concrete didn't have any effect on getting Kendall to walk or slowing her down to explore other areas.

She was pretty amazed with the water just coming up from under the ground. Even though Tyler was so busy all over the place he still managed to find some time to give Kendall some love.

Happy Trails

We haven't really been up to much or I should say nothing that has inspired me to have my camera around. We've been super busy with Tyler's new school (he loves it), our Music Together class (both kids really enjoy it), drop in playtime & playgroups (which is great since Kendall isn't walking yet and I hate taking her to the park), Kendall's Baby Tree house class (lots of new friends for her) and swim lessons. So we're very busy just not picture inspiring busy. Anyway today we went for a little walk around our neighborhood. When both kids nap past 4pm that's about all we have time for. Tyler loved picking "flowers" for Kendall and I think excited that I actually let him walk in the brush to get them. Kendall was thrilled with her little token of affection.

Tyler even took over the reigns of the wagon until we had to go up hill five feet later. Tyler had a blast doing things mommy usually never lets him do like "climbing" a fence. What mommy won't do for a photo op.

Water Baby

Well now that Tyler and Kendall are taking their summer swim lessons on the same day we were able to get pictures of Kendall enjoying her class. She's a natural just like her brother. She doesn't stop kicking her legs and the teacher seems quite impressed. She loves swimming to get the ducks.

She just wants to go go go once she's in the water. She actually doesn't like swimming on her back too much. But she's a good sport anyway. I think she'll be on the swim team in no time.
