Oh who loves a parade? We went to our annual Memorial Parade in our town center for the holiday. The kids love it mainly because when the town softball/baseball leagues come through candy is thrown out and all hell breaks loose for a chance to grab it. I'm waiting for the day the kids get knocked upside the head with it. In fact one of the little girls in our group did get hit. But no one seemed to notice in the mad rush to get more candy.
Anyway we parked in the same place we do every year, Kendall Place.
We walked (Kendall danced) around the common for a bit and then the kids went on a couple bounce houses.
Then we sat with our friends and
waited and waited and waited for the parade to start.
Once it started the kids waved to the firetrucks and ran for candy (I ducked).
Within 5 minutes the parade was over (OK a bit longer but not much) we went and had lunch in the common.
Little did we know they started the ceremonies right where we sat so we had front row seats to the firing of the guns from the guys in their period peace costumes.
When the guns were about to go off I told Tyler it's going to be loud, Kendall covered her ears but Tyler just sat there and asked "why" then they went off and he jumped and just looked at me and said matter of fact "oh that scared me". I just said well they're going to do it again in a minute. This has become our little yearly tradition here and I really do love the small town feel our parade has. It's quite enjoyable. Hope everyone had a nice holiday! Forward march right into summer!
